Teen Company Blackbox Play:
Jacqueline Hyde

Freshman Jacqueline Hyde, the great-great granddaughter of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is starting public school for the first time. But she's afraid her secret may come out: that she turns into a hideous monster if touched by water! She quickly learns that the students of Hallow City High are anything but “normal”, and something much more sinister is going on. Will Jacqueline be able to stop evil from spreading through her town, or will she succumb to her family’s legacy and become evil herself? Featuring eerily familiar characters such as Thursday Addams and Frankie Stein, this play is equal parts hilarious and heartwarming, and the perfect way to celebrate Halloween!

Registration for Jacqueline Hyde is now closed.
Check back in October for information about our Spring Blackbox Play!

About

The Blackbox Company is an acting-focused program designed for older students to dive into advanced acting curriculum, focusing on skills such as script analysis and comedic structure. Actors will take the show from table read to final curtain call, exploring the full process of developing a production and working as an ensemble. Rehearsals will include games, bonding time, and technical work, leading up to a final blackbox-style public performance. This class is the perfect opportunity for young actors to develop their skills while having tons of fun!

Auditions and Casting

Registered performers will sign up for a 5-minute audition slot on Wednesday, August 14th, and should prepare a 60-90-second contemporary monologue. Auditionees may also be asked to read from the script. Students unavailable to attend may submit a video audition.

We never want auditions to cause stress for any student. If your performer does not wish to audition, please email stagebugztheatre@gmail.com after registering and we will place them in a role that they will get to shine and grow in!

Every student is guaranteed a role upon registering, and our small class sizes ensure that each performer receives ample stage time. Auditions simply help us to determine where everyone will learn the most and have the best experience. We do our best to find a role that each child will be excited about, but please remember that in Stagebugz shows, there truly are no small parts.  Additionally, many factors go into casting a show, and not receiving their desired role is not a reflection of a child's level of talent.

*Please Note: Program dates, times, and location subject to change.  Stagebugz Theatre can offer no refunds or transfers for drops, postponements, or other issues arising out of COVID-19 or any other unanticipated safety emergency.
