Based on the hit movie, this fish-out-of-water comedy follows Buddy, a human orphan raised by elves. Buddy embarks on an adventure to New York to find his dad, but discovers his father is on the naughty list and most humans don't even believe in Santa. His determination to win over his new family and his endless holiday spirit teach New York the true meaning of Christmas. Join Stagebugz for a can't-miss opportunity to put on a fully-staged production of this jolly Broadway favorite that promises to warm every heart- from the North Pole to the South.

Registration for Fall programs is now closed. Stay tuned for an announcement of Spring classes in October!

About

The Mainstage Musical is Stagebugz's big event of the season, where performers of all ages and experience levels work together to present a full-length, professional-scale musical! This program is designed to bring together the Stagebugz community, with exciting roles for older and younger participants and opportunities for each student to highlight their strengths and develop new ones. Actors will spend time in peer groups where they'll bond with other students close to their age while still working with and learning from those older and younger than them, and all material and activities will be kept appropriate for all ages. Performers will sing popular Broadway songs, learn thrilling dances, and explore character development and basic script analysis as they develop their show. The production ends with a full tech week, followed by a weekend of performances bringing joy and cheer to family, friends, and fans!

Auditions and Casting

Registered performers will sign up for a 5-minute audition slot on Monday, August 12th, and should prepare 60 seconds of each a song and a monologue of their choosing. Students unavailable to attend may submit a video audition.

Callbacks (by invitation) will be held on Wednesday, August 14th, from 5 PM-7 PM. Not all students will be required to attend.

We never want auditions to be overwhelming for any child. If your performer does not wish to audition, please email stagebugztheatre@gmail.com after registering and we will place them in a role that they will get to shine and grow in! Or, if your child needs help finding a song or monologue, feel free to reach out. We are here to make the process as stress-free as possible and are more than happy to help!

Every student is guaranteed a role with at least one line and one solo upon registering, and our small class sizes ensure that each performer receives ample stage time. Auditions simply help us to determine where everyone will learn the most and have the best experience. We do our best to find a role that each child will be excited about, but please remember that in Stagebugz shows, there truly are no small parts.  Additionally, many factors go into casting a show, and not receiving their desired role is not a reflection of a child's level of talent.

Parent Volunteers

Parents are not required to volunteer during Stagebugz productions, but volunteers are greatly needed and those who are able are strongly encouraged to donate their time in order to give the performers as wonderful of an experience as possible. Parent volunteers will receive additional comp tickets based on the number of hours contributed. More information will be sent out to each cast. Volunteer needs are primarily during tech week and the run of the show, and may include light operators, costume assistants, backstage chaperones, ticket and concession sales, and strike (clean-up).

*Please Note: Program dates, times, and location subject to change. Stagebugz Theatre can offer no refunds or transfers for drops, postponements, or other issues arising out of COVID-19 or any other unanticipated safety emergency.
